Tom Brady’s wife is ending her days on the catwalk! Brazilian website , Estadao reported that Gisele will be ending her runway career next month and will reportedly walk her last show in her native, Brazil at Sao Paolo Fashion Week. Never fear! She will continue to grace us with fierce campaigns and editorials. Thank God, right? Gisele officially began her career in 1996 when she walked in a show at New York Fashion Week. The next year, she would prove that she can survive a wet runway in an Alexander McQueen show. Soon after, the late designer dubbed Gisele “The Body” a nickname originally bestowed upon 1980s supermodel, Elle Macpherson. Gisele will be sorely missed on the runway as it is truly the end of an era. Hopefully, Naomi Campbell will continue to walk into her eighties!
The new first black face of Dior known as Rihanna was in New York in a daring Pascal Millet ensemble. The pieces are pretty much that of a pantsuit but it includes an in-your-face accessory in the form of a pale pink stole. If I could guess any reason as to why Rihanna chose to wear this it was definitely because of the stole and the color! Rihanna doesn’t do basic and if I looked like her I wouldn’t either! The Bajan beauty completed the look with nude Louboutin pumps. I just have one problem: slicked back hair. It’s got to be my least favorite hairstyle on all women.
At Thursday night’s McQueen Gala, Kate Moss proved is she still one of fashion’s queens. She looked chic in a black lace design over a black bodysuit with black heels. Does anybody remember back in the early 2000’s when Britney Spears wore something similar with just a bra and panties underneath and it simply didn’t go over well? Kate’s pairing is the correct way to wear “revealing” lace without looking cheap and trashy. Only she could have pulled something like this off; she looked simple yet sleek and natural. I absolutely adore this look.
Tonight, we have another fabulous girl in her mid-forties killing the style game: Gwen Stefani. She looked cool and very California in Paige jeans and black L.A.M.B. heels. Many of the writers out there have been saying Gwen is having a “Marilyn moment” with the silhouette of her hair and red lipstick. I say Gwen is being herself; she has just reverted to her L.A.M.B. phase with the harajuku girls and what not. It’s strange to me that one cannot wear red lipstick and platinum hair without drawing comparison to MM. I love that Gwen chose to wear “high maintenance” hair with edgy zippered jeans. It’s cool, quirky, and very Gwen.
Jessica Alba was in New York for a Morgan Stanley conference, apparently, she’s into finance possibly? Whatever, all I know is the Narciso Rodriguez ensemble she wore to the gathering was everything and more. It was sleek, yet, fashion forward and the peach color is a true standout from the normal beiges, whites, and blacks that are the go-to for a typical professional look. Also, the white handbag accented the coat perfectly. This should be a lesson for designers that create clothing for the working woman; step outside of the normal neutral color palette and experiment the way Narciso Rodriguez has.
I can never get over the fact that Jennifer Lopez is in her mid-forties and looks as fabulous as she does! While filming at Jimmy Kimmel, she wore a pretty sheath dress by Preen and Casadei pumps. Normally, I am not too fond of a matchy-matchy look but this dress wouldn’t have been complete without those red heels. Also, I love when Jennifer has her hair in those vintage 1960s hairstyles; she has a unique bone structure that can pull off any hairstyle and, of course, she had her signature smoky eye and nude lips as the finishing touches.
How comfortable does this Preen dress look on Camilla Belle? She attended the Moet and Chandon event for tennis player Roger Federer in this bold stunner. The dress is very kimono-like in design but the skinny belt keeps Camilla from being swallowed by the looseness and bold pattern. She also vamped it up with gorgeous black Brian Atwood heels. For some strange reason, when I first studied the picture of this look, I noticed the shoes first despite beauty of the dress! I believe it’s because it was such a perfect pairing between the shoes and the dress.
