The new first black face of Dior known as Rihanna was in New York in a daring Pascal Millet ensemble. The pieces are pretty much that of a pantsuit but it includes an in-your-face accessory in the form of a pale pink stole. If I could guess any reason as to why Rihanna chose to wear this it was definitely because of the stole and the color! Rihanna doesn’t do basic and if I looked like her I wouldn’t either! The Bajan beauty completed the look with nude Louboutin pumps. I just have one problem: slicked back hair. It’s got to be my least favorite hairstyle on all women.
Jessica Alba was in New York for a Morgan Stanley conference, apparently, she’s into finance possibly? Whatever, all I know is the Narciso Rodriguez ensemble she wore to the gathering was everything and more. It was sleek, yet, fashion forward and the peach color is a true standout from the normal beiges, whites, and blacks that are the go-to for a typical professional look. Also, the white handbag accented the coat perfectly. This should be a lesson for designers that create clothing for the working woman; step outside of the normal neutral color palette and experiment the way Narciso Rodriguez has.
I can never get over the fact that Jennifer Lopez is in her mid-forties and looks as fabulous as she does! While filming at Jimmy Kimmel, she wore a pretty sheath dress by Preen and Casadei pumps. Normally, I am not too fond of a matchy-matchy look but this dress wouldn’t have been complete without those red heels. Also, I love when Jennifer has her hair in those vintage 1960s hairstyles; she has a unique bone structure that can pull off any hairstyle and, of course, she had her signature smoky eye and nude lips as the finishing touches.
How comfortable does this Preen dress look on Camilla Belle? She attended the Moet and Chandon event for tennis player Roger Federer in this bold stunner. The dress is very kimono-like in design but the skinny belt keeps Camilla from being swallowed by the looseness and bold pattern. She also vamped it up with gorgeous black Brian Atwood heels. For some strange reason, when I first studied the picture of this look, I noticed the shoes first despite beauty of the dress! I believe it’s because it was such a perfect pairing between the shoes and the dress.
During Paris Fashion Week, Dakota Johnson wore a stunning Dior two piece ensemble to the fashion show of said designer. Let me start by saying this is such a clean and classic look, she looks like a young Charlotte Rampling or Isabelle Adjani. Also, I’m impressed with Dior’s take on the classic black suit; the pants end perfectly at the ankle and I love the off the shoulder top! Dakota completed the look with a leather Dior handbag and tortoise-shell sunglasses. As you can see in the picture, she looked like she belonged at PFW and wasn’t just there because of her much buzzed about film, Fifty Shades of Grey.
I love the seventies! It was such a glamorous and free time especially for black people in the entertainment industry. We were truly flourishing in that decade in the most positive ways. But one thing that is for true is anything went when it came to fashion. Like Sly Stone and his then wife, Kathy Silva (pictured above) when they got married in matching gold Halston outfits. He wore what looks to be a jumpsuit and a cape and she looked increasing beautiful in a long gold dress. They married in 1971 during one of Sly’s concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York. Despite their union only lasting a few years, their wedding outfits are engraved in vintage fashion history as 1970’s luxury at it’s finest.
Makeup Forever HD Foundation is the most amazing foundation ever! My blog isn’t really about beauty and makeup but I have to get on here and rave about the genius of this foundation. It has a sheer to medium coverage and it can be easily built up for those who prefer a heavier veil. Now that I have that covered (no pun intended) let me tell you about how long this stuff lasts. It lasts all day! It only gets a little oily on the face towards the end of the day. A typical day for me starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. and only then I have a little bit of oiliness on my nose. Other than that, perfect! I honestly believe that MUFE is the holy grail of foundation; you truly can’t go wrong with it! Also, it blends so seamlessly that it is almost scary. When I first put it on I just thought, “Wow, I’m going to fool people into thinking I was born like this.” See how I made that reference to Beyonce?
